Acquiesce is an addiction treatment facility offering a real solution to issues of addiction. This is a 7 day a week service including bank holidays, evening and weekend shifts.

The Acquiesce model provides a highly supported safe and secure environment whilst not being hidden from the real world. This allows individuals to gain all the tools and experience necessary for an ongoing and sustainable recovery.

The model of Acquiesce includes a core program which addresses the psychological, biological, spiritual and social effects of addiction. Incorporating the latest evidence based interventions, alternative therapies and activities.

Salary: £24,964 – £29,323 (NJC salary point 28 – 33)

Purpose of Job

The post holder will:

  • Co-ordinate the recovery journey of service users from entry to exit
  • Complete assessment, recovery plans, risk assessments, risk plans, contingency plans and exit plans for service users
  • Manage a caseload
  • Provide quality psycho education and interventions to service users as a group and on an individual basis
  • Provide information on all aspects of addictions and change including the biopsychosocial nature of addiction and how this can relate to the mind, body and spirit
  • Provide information on relapse prevention, harm minimisation and overdose prevention
  • Work inclusively with family members and immediate others of service users
  • Work with community assets and external agencies to ensure that a service user is engaging in activities to enhance their recovery journey i.e education, exercise, social activities, health care etc

Main Responsibilities

  • To complete assessment, recovery plans, risk assessments, risk plans contingency plans and exit plans for service users
  • To facilitate a smooth admission to and discharge from Acquiesce for service users
  • Ensure service users are engaging with interventions in line with their recovery plan and manage re-engagement in a timely manner
  • To ensure service users are aware of their treatment options
  • To support service users to make sustained behaviour changes providing motivational interventions, ITEP, behavioural activation, CBT approaches and psychosocial interventions
  • Ensure any disengagement is managed safely and effectively
  • Effectively manage and co-ordinate a caseload
  • Work inclusively with family members and immediate others
  • To work in a person centred way with service users to support positive outcomes of their recovery plan and individual goals
  • To lead on specific projects where required
  • To present and behave in a professional manner
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet agreed deadlines
  • To be aware of and engage with any responsibilities within the marketing plan in order to positively promote the service

  • Ensure data collection and recording systems are utilised effectively
  • Ensure that NDTMS requirements are met
  • To ensure a system of service user consultation is utilised and maintained

Additional Requirements

  • Work flexibly between the treatment centre and housing sites where necessary
  • Provide adequate cover for all aspects of the service
  • Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision which may include bank holidays, weekends, evening and facilitation of the 24 hour on call system

  • Remain up to date regarding developments, legislation and practice relevant to substance misuse

Person Specification

Essential Criteria
Assessed at Application (A), Interview (I) or Test (T)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working within substance misuse recovery services or a health and social care setting
  • Has professional qualification in health and social care or counselling
  • Excellent knowledge of the micro and macro biopsychosocial issues relating to substance use
  • Knowledge of a range of interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Behavioural Activation, Motivational Interviewing, Psychosocial Interventions, 12 step and holistic approaches
  • Excellent understanding of service user journey from entry to exit
  • Experience of delivering evidenced based interventions within a recovery setting to support sustained behaviour change in a group setting and on an individual basis
  • An excellent understanding of delivery of quality services
  • Knowledge of information governance and responsibilities regarding this
  • Experience of managing and coordinating a caseload
  • Experience of using monitoring tools i.e. alcohol audits, STAR tools etc
  • Ability to complete assessment of need, risk assessment, risk plans, recovery plans and exit plans
  • An excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in written form
  • High standard of computer literacy
  • Experience of using data collection systems and recording information i.e service user notes
  • Ability to write reports for a range of audiences, service users, their family members, external agencies and senior management
  • Ability to work flexibly autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to work flexibly to deadlines
  • Experience of building and maintaining positive relations both with service users, internal staff members and with external agencies

Desirable Criteria
