At Acquiesce, we are passionate about supporting our local community and have been looking for ways in which we can give back. That’s why last week, we bought a number of raffle tickets for a chance to become a sponsor of Astley & Tyldesley Football Club and we are super thrilled to announce that we won!
Astley & Tyldesley Football Club
The club is run openly by a volunteer led committee and provides opportunities for young players from reception age with fun themed game sessions, and 16-18 year olds with friendly games, progressing to league and cup based competitions.
By achieving community charter standard, the club has also added Open Age teams that play on weekends, with the First team competing in the Manchester Football League!
Why Sponsor a Local Football Club?
One of the reasons we were so keen to sponsor Astley & Tyldesley FC was because we know the kind of impact clubs like these can have on young people’s lives.
Getting children to participate in team sports from a young age can provide them with a whole host of skills which help them in later life, such as working well with others, gaining confidence in their abilities, effective communication and conflict resolution.
What’s more, football has the power to improve both physical and mental health, thanks to the way in which exercise triggers the release of feel-good chemicals like serotonin and dopamine. This gives young people a healthy way to boost their positivity, which they can carry with them into their adult lives.
At Acquiesce, we encourage exercise as part of a regular routine for individuals recovering from addiction. This is because it can help clear the mind, ease withdrawal, make cravings less powerful and provide a healthy way to relieve stress.
In fact, exercise is often referred to as a ‘miracle cure’ by the NHS for a whole host of issues, both physical and mental.
What Our Sponsorship Means for the Club
The monies raised from the raffle has managed to buy new winter coats for five teams at Astley & Tyldesley FC and we’re so pleased to hear that some of the children have even been wearing their coats to school- an essential during these colder months!
