Benefits or Residential Rehab

Benefits or Residential Rehab

If you’re struggling with an addiction, you may be wondering what the best course of action is to help you get on the road to recovery. In this guide, we’ll be explaining the benefits of private, residential rehab.

What is Residential Rehab?

Private residential rehab provides individuals with a safe, structured and supportive environment in which they can start recovery treatment.

Residential rehab offers much more in-depth support compared with regular rehab by providing individuals with constant support under the care of expert recovery practitioners.

What are the Benefits of Residential Rehab?

Around-the-Clock Support

Residential rehab provides around-the-clock support and supervision, which is essential for those who are struggling with addiction. This ensures that individuals receive the help they need at all times and provides more focused recovery support compared with outpatient rehab options.

Structure and Routine

One of the key things we teach at Acquiesce is the importance of structure as part of the recovery journey. Residential rehab gives individuals structure, both in the place they are staying and in the routine. This includes regular therapy sessions, support groups, and other activities that help individuals to focus on their recovery.

Medical and Psychological Support

Substance based addictions often require a detox prior to starting treatment. This can be one of the most challenging steps due to the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that follow and can commonly lead to relapse if not done properly.

Fortunately, residential rehab provides both medical and psychological support, which is essential during the detoxification process, helping to keep individuals safe and more comfortable.

Time Away from Triggers

Residential rehab provides a space away from the triggers and temptations, allowing individuals to focus on developing recovery skills and coping methods without the distractions and stresses of everyday life. This allows them to fully engage in the treatment, which increases the chances of a successful recovery.

Long Term Sustainable Recovery

Residential rehab centres typically offer long-term recovery programs, which can help individuals to maintain their recovery skills in future. This includes follow-up support, such as aftercare programs and group support sessions, which can help individuals to stay on track after they leave rehab.

Acquiesce Residential Rehab

At Acquiesce, our rehabilitation programme takes place in a luxury residential accommodation, offering a high level of focused, individual treatment to no more than 6 residential individuals at any one time, providing a high quality service.

This helps individuals learn how to live a fulfilling and enjoyable life free from drug and alcohol addiction. It is a common misconception that becoming substance free once means they will never turn to drugs or alcohol again, however, for many people this is not the case.

Our recovery model is designed to reduce the likelihood of a relapse, teaching individuals how to overcome emotional triggers or social circles and environments where substance abuse occurs.

Should I Choose Private or NHS Rehab?

When it comes to seeking treatment for addiction, individuals in the UK have the option to choose between private residential rehab or NHS rehab services.

NHS Rehab Services

The NHS offers support for those struggling with addiction by providing a number of NHS funded rehabilitation centres throughout the UK. Most of these offer outpatient treatment, however, there are some inpatient programmes available that provide constant supervision and support, though these are very limited.

Why Choose Private Residential Rehab?

Private Residential Rehab Offers More Availability

Although NHS services are more accessible to a wider range of people as they are free, very few actually receive the help they need. Of those who accessed support with alcohol and substances via the NHS in 2019, only 4% received inpatient or residential support as it is only offered in very specific circumstances and most services are just community based.

In order to get the right kind of care for more severe addictions, the waiting list is very long and some people may not receive the support they so desperately need.

On the other hand, private rehabilitations have much shorter waiting times (if any at all) and can offer almost immediate support. The only drawback of course is that private rehab isn’t free.

Private Rehab Has A Higher Success Rate

A study published by the NHS’ National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse UK in 2012 looked at the success rates of every private clinic across the UK. It found that the best performing facilities achieve success rates of between 60% and 80% of individuals receiving residential treatment remained abstinent five years after completing their programmes.

What’s more, the success rates enjoyed by the best private rehab clinics are many times better than the rates achieved through NHS and community-based services. The 2012 report demonstrates as much.

Put simply, you stand a better chance of achieving abstinence after five years by undergoing rehab at a private clinic. Over the years, drug rehab experts have affirmed, repeatedly, that residential treatment at a private clinic works better than any other treatment option available.
