I am a married mum of one daughter and two stepchildren (all grown up now!) I live in north Bolton. and I am passionate about working with individuals in recovery.
I am a qualified, experienced counsellor and hold a diploma in Counselling Theory and Practice. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am fully equipped to work with many of the recognised counselling/psychotherapeutic approaches, with the use of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) tools counting as one of my most utilised way of helping clients.
When I’m not at Acquiesce, I work from my own small practice as an Integrative counsellor.
I have over 15 years of experience working as a Psychosocial Intervention Practitioner working within Bolton’s busy community-based substance misuse service, helping clients in both one to one and group settings.
5-Point Auricular Acupuncture
I am a registered practitioner with the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) and as part of my service at Acquiesce, I provide 5-point auricular acupuncture to clients as part of the Acquiesce recovery programme.
Auricular Acupuncture is recognised as a valid intervention and is approved by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.) This can be a powerful adjunct to a detox/rehabilitation programme, regardless of the substance or problem behaviour of choice. It can help with anxiety, sleep problems and help reduce cravings.
I love astronomy, beautiful views, going out for tea and cake, spending time in nature and with people I love. I’m a military aircraft geek, which stems from my 10 years in the RAF. I also sing in a pop/rock band and enjoy performing in various small venues around the north of England.
When I was a solo singer many years ago, I performed several times at the Phoenix Club from Peter Kay’s TV programme “Phoenix Nights!”
To me, there is nothing more satisfying than playing a part in someone’s journey towards freedom from the distress of addiction, to help someone ease their emotional pain and live their life as the best possible version of themselves.
The team here are dedicated, professional but always down to earth. It’s a pleasure to be part of something so special.
