Acquiesce is delighted to share that we have been rated ‘Outstanding’ in our latest CQC report and have also been featured on BBC North West Tonight to discuss our latest rating.
We were delighted to welcome former clients to the centre to speak to the BBC about how Acquiesce has changed their lives. Many of them talked about how much life has changed, with one person saying they are now excited to become a parent, and another person saying that they feel part of their social groups again. Acquiesce has helped them to start a new chapter in their lives, where they feel more in control and happier.
Here’s what some of our former clients had to say.
“I felt like I had people I could open up to, people I could speak to, people I had things in common with. It made me realise that I wasn’t on my own.”
“It was life-changing for me, and it still is to this day.”
“I’m really looking forward to the future. It’s looking bright for me.”
“I’m so glad I’m so far removed from that now.”
What is the CQC?
The CQC is the Care Quality Commission, an independent regulator for health and adult social care services in England. They are here to ensure that healthcare settings, including rehab centres, hospitals and more, provide safe, effective and compassionate care for adults.
The timing of CQC reports varies depending on the results given to settings. For example, those who receive ‘Outstanding’ will be inspected approximately every 2.5 years, while those rated poorly can be inspected every 6 months.
The CQC is responsible for registering, inspecting and monitoring all health services. Once inspections are completed, they are required to publish the findings alongside a rating. They may also make suggestions to improve the services, encouraging care settings to take action and protect the people using the services.
Our CQC rating
We are all so proud to have been rated ‘Outstanding’ again by the CQC and truly believe this is a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication.
Our Director of Services, Danielle, described this as an “almost pinch me moment” after she and her husband quit their jobs and sold their house to start Acquiesce.
Craig Howarth, CQC Deputy Director, said the following.
“At both Acquiesce services, we found exemplary services which had an inclusive and transparent culture.
Every person, whether staff, people using the service, or their families, felt genuinely heard, respected, and valued.
Kind and caring staff went above and beyond to enable people to feel fully cared for and empowered them to live full and happy lives.”
People using the services told inspectors that it was the best rehabilitation service they had experienced. Some former residents said the support they received had saved their lives and helped them overcome their condition.

Craig also said, “Leaders and staff should be very proud of the findings in this report. It’s clear the service was committed to treating people as individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.”
Within the report, our staff were praised for their openness and honesty, their proactive attitude to safety, and their empowerment of our clients. Additionally, the CQC report highlights that staff at all levels were “extremely passionate about the service and the clients they cared for.”
